Safe at Work Ontario

Safe At Work Ontario is a workplace health and safety program of the Ontario Ministry of Labour (MOL) designed to:

  • improve the health and safety culture of workplaces,
  • reduce workplace injuries and illness,
  • lessen the burden on the health care system,
  • save costs for employers and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB), and
  • provide a level playing field for compliant companies.

MOL’s website provides information about Safe At Work Ontario, including:

  • criteria for identifying workplaces for proactive inspections,
  • information about workplace inspection "blitzes",
  • Ontario Ministry of Labour sector plans,
  • Internal Responsibility System (IRS) explained,
  • links to Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and related legislation, and
  • view access to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards referenced in Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations.
