Ontario Collective Bargaining Agreement Expirations, 2008

4. Activity by Month

Collective agreements expiring in the months of March, August, September, and December cover the largest number of employees, representing 82% of the total for 2008 (Figure 3). Education and related services comprise 96% of employees whose agreements expire in August. Of the December expiries, provincial government employees account for 41%, followed by 31% in municipal government. For employees whose agreements expire in March, 67% are mainly in health and welfare services. As for the month of September, 79% of employees are in the transportation equipment sector.

In terms of the number of collective agreements expiring in 2008, most activity will be focused on March (health and welfare services), August (education and related services), December (health and welfare services, education and related services, municipal administration), and June (health and welfare services, education and related services) (Figure 3).
