Workers are required to wear:
- Adequate hearing protection, protective boots, hardhats and safety glasses
- Adequate reflective material on headgear and outer clothing
- Proper protective clothing where exposed to heat (in smelter/furnace environment)
- Fall arrest where exposed to fall hazard
It is good practice for workers to wear:
- Bright coloured clothing
- Fall arrest harnesses equipped with trauma straps
Employers should make sure:
- Cap lamps, respiratory and fall arrest equipment are available, well maintained and used where required
- Programs exist for the selection, fitting and maintenance of respiratory equipment
- Cleaning supplies for safety glasses are readily available
- All workers are properly fitted with Personal Protective Equipment by a competent person
