Safe At Work Ontario

Workers can be seriously injured in diamond drill incidents

Worker Responsibilities:

  1. Use proper guarding and safety devices for drills
  2. Wear appropriate protective gear provided by employer
  3. Be familiar with emergency response procedures provided by employer

Employer Responsibilities:

  1. Provide adequate guarding devices for drills
  2. Provide an emergency preparedness plan for the site
  3. Provide adequate supervision
  4. Provide prescribed training to both workers and supervisors
  5. Provide adequate personal protective clothing and equipment

To report incidents, critical injuries or fatalities, call the Ministry of Labour at 1-877-202-0008. In an emergency, always call 911 immediately.
