Since 2001, George Gritziotis has served as founding executive director of the Construction Sector Council (CSC), a national organization committed to developing a highly skilled workforce that will support the human resource needs of Canada’s construction industry. This includes the development and distribution of apprenticeship, and occupational health and safety-related programs across the country.

At CSC, Mr. Gritziotis played a key role in facilitating partnerships in the residential, institutional and commercial, heavy industrial and civil engineering sectors. He was a key participant in the negotiations that brought the Canadian Federation of Construction Safety Associations into CSC’s activities, which allowed CSC to develop targeted construction safety programs, increasingly partner with provincial occupational health and safety organizations, and identify and share best practices across Canada.

Mr. Gritziotis held many other key industry and government roles in the past. He began his career in Ottawa in 1986, working as a strategic analyst at Investment Canada. Two years later, he became a senior research associate at Prospectus Investment & Trade Partners Inc.

In 1992, he was hired as business liaison officer with the Canadian Labour Force Development Board, before his promotion to senior associate. In 1998, he became the national coordinator for the Alliance of Sector Councils, a partnership of national organizations that brings together private sector employer and labour organizations to address human resources development issues.

Between 1999 and 2001, he was director of human resources and the employability development sector at Tecsult Eduplus Inc., a Montreal-based company specializing in human resources development for major civil engineering construction projects. At Tecsult Eduplus, he was instrumental in obtaining a federal government contract to establish a national apprenticeship organization to promote apprenticeship and trades.

Mr. Gritziotis holds an MBA from the University of Ottawa. He also has an economics degree from Concordia University.
