Only under certain circumstances may an employer make deductions from an employee's wages. Deductions from wages are not allowed for a cash shortage, lost or stolen property if a person other than the employee had control over or access to the cash or property.
Ontario will help ensure fairness in the workplace by enhancing the enforcement of the Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA), including the hiring of additional officers and staff.
